Greater security for tenants and landlords

The Victorian Government recently announced a long-term standard tenancy agreement will be developed for leases of more than five years. The Government has indicated it will revise the Residential Tenancies Act to include leases with durations longer than 5 years. Minister for Consumer Affairs Marlene Kairouz said that the more than 25 per cent of Victorians currently renting should have the security of long-term leases. "This is about giving Victorian renters and landlords the security they need - the ability to lease a property long-term and a way to help renters find their future home."
